Hi. I'm Sandy.
Artist, Writer, Giant Kid and medium sized mom. I am inspired by everyday whimsy, things that are both beautiful and funny, and I love drawing my way around a good story.
Entrepreneurship Enthusiast, teacher, workshop leader, early sleeper and even earlier riser.
Nice to meet you!
Hi I’m Sandy.
I'm from Toronto and have lived in Montreal for almost 15 years. I miss Toronto constantly but have fallen in love with Montreal. I love biking, reading, hanging with my family and camping. I'm happiest in the woods.
I read poetry, mystery novels, loads of business books, and Graphic Novels and comics. Reading always makes me feel happy, even when I don’t love the book (my version of Netflix?)
I have recently begun to work in Art licensing, and you can see my collection of USA maps, as well as my Anatomy of a Heart series, on the exquisite products of Uncommon Goods (their site is a dream, and they are the perfect partners).
I do lots of maps - in fact I've become a bit of a specialist in making maps that tell a story or convey a tone or feeling. *Do not use my maps to get around*.
WHAT CAN I DO FOR YOUR BUSINESS:
Custom maps for hotels
Custom illustrations for employee directory
Custom maps for travel companies
Illustrations for Childrens’ magazines
City maps for Real Estate
Christmas cards and stationery
Surface Pattern design for your line of fabric, totes, mugs, kitchen accessories, housewares…etc
Beautify / spruce up your printed material
I have just released my first 2 kids’ books and am working on the next 2 - A real dream come true - 2 of these books I wrote and illustrated and are the first of a series.
**I'm looking for an English publisher for this book that came out in French with La Courte Échelle in Feb. 2019** (Do you hear me, Universe!?)
I use a combination of traditional methods of inks, watercolours and markers and transforms them digitally to create rich and colourful textured images that tell these stories through maps, portraits, or the Anatomy of a Heart series.
"I feel there is a specialness to the ordinary, in fact the more ordinary an experience is, the more interested I become. The stories of parenting, of being part of a family, or those stories hiding in our favourite cities and neighbourhoods. These things that make us humans at once so different but really connected."
Please have a look around my site and drop me a line.
I love getting emails from people stopping by to read here.
